Thank you

Plume is going to write today's post, so I'm making room for her...

I'd like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your birthday wishes. It's the first time I receive so many and I have to admit it's a little bit scary to see so many people know me while I don't know you (even though Sylvie talks about you sometimes). Sylvie was adorable with me yesterday and I had some ham (I mean more than usual), I wish my birthday was everyday because I love ham!!! And I too was adorable as I decided to have a rest on the sofa, close to her (I never do that) while she was stitching and watching TV. She seemed to be very pleased, she even stayed longer watching something not interesting, just to have the pleasure to stay with me. I have to admit it was great and I think I'll do it again. Well, it's very exhausting to write so I guess I'm gonna have a nap now...

Plume

Today is the birthday of my sweetie: Plume.

So to my sweet little heart:

7 years ago, you entered my life, 7 years of happiness with you. I remember when the breeder called me to say that 2 babies were born: a male and a female. I immediately knew, without seeing you, that it would be you. And then my first visit when you were hardly 1 month, a very small "shrimp" with a mischievous face. Even if you are not as cuddle as I would have liked to, you show me your love with your own way and especially you are always there for me, in the goods as in the bad moments. I adore you!!!

And now some pictures...

Nicki's gifts & cushion progress

I guess some of you know Nicki finally received her birthday parcel yesterday after 7 weeks!!! It would have been such a pity if it was lost somewhere...

I stitched her a bourse with one of her favourite charts and included some goodies that you can see on her blog.

One of my friends (2miaou) who lives in Alsace, helped me to find a springerlé mould (something you can find in Alsace), so I bought one for Nicki.

Here are some pictures of the bourse.

The ribbon

As promised, here are the pictures of Plume playing with the ribbon I used to wrap Isabelle's gift.

First of all, the approach... Quite shy...

Ready to be sent

Do you remember this? Well it is finished! You don't believe me? Look!

I know you were expected to see more but I'm sorry, I can't show you more for now.

Plume insisted to help me to wrap it and she particularly like the ribbon (I'll show you pictures tomorrow).

This parcel will leave in a few days to go to Isabelle's home. I don't keep her name secret as she knows I was preparing something for her. Nevertheless, she doesn't know what's inside...

WIP: the surprise for my friend

I'd like to tell you more about the cushion I'm doing for my friend. Here are the designs I'm going to stitch.

I'm going to stitch the cats only, not the hearts and words. One cat on each side.
Her nickname means "two meows" so I think it's perfect to describe who she is.

This is what I've done already.

Plaid

At the same time as I work on the secret project for a friend, I've started a little thing for Plume.

I realized she would have been pleased to sleep on a scarf I recently made, so I thought it could be a good idea to do a small plaid for her.

At that time, she only wonders what this weird thing is.

Yesterday evening, I knitted the first square (10 x 10 cm). I will add several pieces to obtain a 70 x 70 cm quare (on the picture you can see a drawing of the project).

I've chosen a lovely wool from Phildar. The picture that shows a colour close to the real one is the first one (with Plume), even the next one (which is a very close one) doesn't show the real colour.

I hope she will like it...

Yesterday, I finished the surprise for a friend and now I have to do the finishing. But I've already started a new small project, a surprise for another friend. As I know she doesn't visit this blog (she prefers to read my french one) I can tell you more about it. It's going to be a cushion with a cat on each side. This is what I did yesterday:

I hope to show you more tomorrow.

Nicki and Natty, Plume asked me to thank for your compliments about her, she was delighted when she heard about them.

Shellfish

Today, I'm going to show you what I did for the birthday of a good friend who likes everything about sea.

I chose "The crab is in", a Waxing Moon Designs.

The crab was supposed to be stitched using a Gentle Art Sampler Thread, but I didn't have the one suggested and none of the threads I have could match. So I used together two DMC threads which colours was close to the Gentle Art one. It's not so bad, isn't it?

Have a lovely weekend!

Nostalgia

As I can't show you my current cross stitching project because it's a surprise, I need to find something to talk about...

Last weekend when I was visiting my parents for Easter, Mum showed me 3 old photos.

On the first one, you can see her grandparents: François (who preferred to be called Alexandre) and Marie Broxolle.

On the second one, you can see the same with Marie, their daughter (my grandmother) and Fifi the cute dog.

My grandmother was about 4 on the picture so it means it was around 1917 (and it seems to be quite correct when you see my great-grand-father's uniform).

Then, on the last one, you can see the family for Marie and Germain's wedding (23 nov. 1940).

I've never met my great-grand-parents as they died a long time before I was born but I was very close to my grandparents (from my mother's side) who took care of myself while my parents were at work.

François and Marie (the mother) left us in 1964 and 1963, Germain and Marie (the daughter) in 1992 and 2001.

I wanted to pay tribute to them here...

Don't forget to click on pictures to enlarge them.
